In the studio

Small tour through our Kumeko studio

Posted on June 17, 2015

Since moving from Prague to Berlin in 2012, the unique chaos and mismatched contrasts of the German capital have become an indispensable source of inspiration to us. But in creative yet tranquil Prenzlauer Berg, it’s also possible to process our ideas without the bustle.

Last month, we finally moved into our new studio in a lovely and idyllic part of the area. The studio charms with open, airy space and beautiful natural light flooding the rooms. To underscore its functionality, we have incorporated storage and work elements directly into the interior.

The ceramic accessories in nordic colours by NewNorm are ideal to stow away office supplies and small bric-a-brac (01). On the walls, we attached simple wire grids to serve as a pinboard (02) and repurposed small bicycle baskets to hold materials and samples (03). Letters, documents and notes come together in one place with the table organizer by HAY (04).

Overlooking our work area, two framed pictures meanwhile display what Ku me ko’s designs stand for: “Less is more” and striking the balance between elegant simplicity and function – like the Wishbone Chair by Hans J. Wegner, one of our favourite classic chairs.
